Clinical Waste collection

Clinical waste includes: soiled medical dressings infected with body fluids e.g. blood; used syringes and needles; waste from persons or animals suffering from an infectious disease .

It is law now for Clinical Waste to be collected in orange bags , so as to be sure that it does not get mixed with domestic waste collection .

Because of the infectious nature of some types of clinical waste, it is classified as ‘hazardous waste’ under UK & EU law and therefore requires safe disposal as commensurate to the level of risk. In most cases suitable disposal is heat treatment prior to landfill or incineration.

HSP Superstores such as Protect Life can help you with understanding and implementing a good collection policy so do approach them when you feel you are ready for a review, audit or competitive quote.
